Unix 发展简史

Kernighan 在 UNIX: A History and a Memoir 中回忆了贝尔实验室创造 Unix 的那些光辉岁月，读来让人心潮澎湃。Unix 发展历史大致如下。

1925年，AT&T 创办研发子公司贝尔电话实验室（Bell Telephone Laboratories）。

1969年，Ken Thompson 花了三周时间写出了 Unix 原型。

1971年，发布第一版 Unix 程序员手册。

1972年2月，第二版 Unix，第一次加入 C 语言编译器。

1973年2月，第三版 Unix，有了管道功能，Unix首创。

1973年11月，第四版 Unix，用 C 语言重写了系统，同时加入了 grep 程序。

1975年，第六版 Unix，其手册发布于1975年5月，首次拓展到贝尔实验室以外。它对世界产生了重大影响。

1978年，The C Programing Language 出版。

1979年1月，第七版 Unix，达到最高潮。加入 The Bourne shell (sh)，丰富了 shell 的功能。

1991年8月25日，林纳斯·托瓦兹（Linus Torvalds）在 Usenet 新闻组 comp.os.minix 上发布了一个项目，linux 诞生。
